How long does a routine dryer vent cleaning take?

A standard residential dryer vent cleaning takes about 45 minutes on site — roughly 20 minutes of inspection plus 25 minutes of cleaning, brushing, and verification. Unusually long runs or homes with access challenges can extend to 60–75 minutes. We give a firm arrival window and call 15 minutes before we're on the way.

Typical timeline: 5 minutes of setup (floor protection, shoe covers, pulling the dryer forward), 15 minutes of inspection with the video endoscope, 20 minutes of rotary-brush cleaning plus HEPA vacuum capture, and 5 minutes of post-service re-scope and reconnection. That's our $45-minute flat estimate for standard residential jobs.

What makes a job longer: vent runs over 25 feet total, runs with multiple elbows, roof terminations (requires ladder access), obstructed dryer access (cabinetry built around the unit, tight laundry closets), and any repair work discovered during inspection.

What makes a job shorter: condo or apartment jobs with short sidewall vents, recently cleaned vents that just need verification, and DIY-prepped jobs where the customer has already pulled the dryer forward.

Arrival windows: we book 2-hour arrival windows (e.g., 9–11 AM) and call or text 15–30 minutes before arrival. For Maplewood same-day bookings, the window is usually tighter — ask when you book.

How much does dryer vent cleaning cost in North Jersey?

The Dryer Guys charges a flat $49.99 inspection fee and a $220 routine cleaning for standard residential vent runs — a typical total of $269 plus tax. Pricing is the same across all 11 of our North Jersey service towns. Multi-unit and commercial work is quoted separately after a walkthrough.

What's the $49.99 inspection fee, and what do I get for it?

The $49.99 inspection is a flat service fee that covers a full video endoscope scope of your vent, an airflow measurement, an exterior hood check, and a written inspection report with photos. It's charged whether or not cleaning is needed, so you always know where your vent actually stands before committing to additional work.

What questions should I ask before hiring a dryer vent cleaner?

Ask: (1) what's the flat price and what's included, (2) do you use rotary brushes and HEPA vacuums (not just compressed air or a leaf blower), (3) will you provide before/after documentation, (4) are you fully insured with proof available, and (5) will you diagnose and quote any repairs before starting work.
